Match voltage to age

6V suits 2–4 years (walking pace, indoor-friendly); 12V suits 4–7 with more power for outdoor surfaces. More voltage than the child can handle isn’t a gift, it’s a hazard.

Non-negotiable safety features

A working speed limiter, a wide stable wheelbase that resists tipping on turns, smooth start (no jerk launches), and ideally parental remote override for younger riders. Seat belts on car styles are worth having and using.

Smooth tiles and short driveways suit smaller wheels; rough or sloped compounds need bigger wheels and more torque —and more supervision. Never near open gates, ramps or water.
